Hooked 42: Exchange Supplies

Written by Nigel Brunsdon on 18 February 2011.

hookedIn todays Hooked podcast we again talk to Andrew Preston this time about his company Exchange Supplies who produce some of the best and most innovative equipment and resources there are for drug services.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Exchange Supplies and the work they do for the community, so it was a pleasure to have some quality time to talk with Andrew.

You can either download the episode directly or better still you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes which will automatically get each new episode as it comes out.

If you're not someone who has listened to podcasts before, or if you have never even heard of them then we have an introductory article that explains all here.

Shownotes

As the more observant among you will spot this episode was recorded last September, but technical issues have prevented us from putting it out until now.

Here are the show notes:

If you want to check out all the products and information Andrew talked about on the show please spend some time looking around the Exchange Supplies website. Especially the extensive conference archives of the 'National Conference on Injecting Drug Use'

At the start of the show Andrew and Allison spoke about the fact all new staff in the drug field should read both the methadone briefing and the safer injecting briefing these are still available to read online.

Andrew talked about Exchange Supplies being a social enterprise and mentioned another well known one was the Big Issue Magazine which is sold on UK streets by people who are homeless.

We've mentioned the Nevershare syringe many times before, but this time we also mentioned the new sharps bin made just for Nevershares.

I mentioned the Simon Sinek talk about how Apple inspire people to buy products and how I saw this to be the same way Exchange do their marketing.

And finally I read a quote from Alan Joyce of the National Users Network, just so you know when I read this to Andrew he got quite teary.
