Hooked 38: Harm reduction works
We've had a special guest in the studio this week. Andrew Preston came in to talk to us about the Harm Reduction Works campaign which has been running for almost 2 years now.
We covered all the current harm reduction materials in the campaign as well as looking at why/how they have been developed. In our opinion these have been some of the best produced resources available, and all for free (well, free in England at least). It was great to have Andrew join the Hooked team for the day, and I'm sure we'll have him back soon.
You can either download the episode directly or better still you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes which will automatically get each new episode as it comes out.
If you're not someone who has listened to podcasts before, or if you have never even heard of them then we have an introductory article that explains all here.
Shownotes
It really was great to have Andrew visit the studio for this interview as it allowed both of us to be involved. And the Harm Reduction Works materials are something both Allison and I feel very passionately about.
The resources have been produced by Exchange Supplies for the National Treatment Agency in response to the findings of the "Reducing drug related harm: an action plan" report.
As well as the main Harm Reduction Works site you can also visit their YouTube channel to see great harm reduction films.
Andrew mentioned the other hand washing film they've produced featured Erin the editor of Black Poppy magazine which is a publication for drug users written by drug users.
One of the other films that make up the campaign is Mr Mange goes over, which was made by Lifeline.
Finally while talking about not limiting the amount of equipment that's given out I mentioned a list of guidance documents these included ones by NICE, ACMD and the NNEF.
