Well after too long a break Hooked is back, This latest show is on the current situation with Anthrax in the UK.
Anthrax has been killing heroin users since the end of 2009, but has had very little in the way of media coverage. Allison and I discuss the outbreak, Anthrax symptoms and the possible related harm reduction messages.
You can either download the episode directly or better still you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes which will automatically get each new episode as it comes out.
If you're not someone who has listened to podcasts before, or if you have never even heard of them then we have an introductory article that explains all here.
Shownotes
Anthrax has been killing UK heroin users since the end of 2009. Although the outbreak has died down slightly its still important to have some idea of what's going on.
I've previously written two articles on the situation, the first was back in January 2010 and focused mainly on symptoms, and the second was an update at the end of February which included the known details of how those who died became infected.
There is also a wonderful article by Sara McGrail from the early days of the outbreak called "A question of harm".
Both Health Protection Scotland and the UK Health Protection Agency have pages dedicated to the situation.
