Hooked 26: Social media and drugs work
In Hooked this week we're talking about social media and drugs work. We discuss the need to use these new services to engage with drug users and how they can be helpful for networking and research. We also talk about how a lot of drug services nanny their staff by blocking social media sites, which is very short sighted.
This was a fun show to record, although it is clear that we are both highly caffeinated. If you listen through the show you'll also get a chance to win an invite to Google Wave.
You can either download the episode directly or better still you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes which will automatically get each new episode as it comes out.
If you're not someone who has listened to podcasts before, or if you have never even heard of them then we have an introductory article that explains all here.
Shownotes
I was thinking about this set of show notes and dreading how long they could become with all the different social media and Twitterers mentioned.
Then I realised that I've covered all the pointed before in 2 articles:
Twitter for drugs workers: a guide on how to use Twitter and some of the more interesting people to follow.
Our social media presentation: which was originally given to the NCIDU, at the end of the article there are links to most social networks etc
I also mentioned in the so I was thinking of writing an article about using creative commons in harm reduction services, this article has now been written and is called 'Open source harm reduction'
