Hooked 21: Filters
In todays podcast we're talking about filters for injecting.
We discuss all the usual suspects from cigarette filters though to ones specially designed for injecting drug users. We talk about how filters are used (and how they should be used), how to make them safer and which ones to avoid.
You can either download the episode directly or better still you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes which will automatically get each new episode as it comes out.
If you're not someone who has listened to podcasts before, or if you have never even heard of them then we have an introductory article that explains all here.
Shownotes
We spoke about wheel filters, the website I was on during the show was this one.
We talked at length on the reasons not to use cotton wool based filters, but strangely the one thing we didn't mention was cotton fever, maybe because we don't see it much in the UK.
We mentioned that removing the needle before drawing up through a filter is a good idea, and part of that discussion involved talking about NeverShare syringes.
I also spoke about the new syringe from Frontier Medical that contains a tiny filter in the cap.
Although I don't think they are easy to use it is worth looking at the Sterifilt filter system.
And finally we had a discussion on what steps you can take to make sure the water used is the safest possible, there is a great poster on water safety.
