Hooked 18: Injecting injuries and infections

Written by Nigel Brunsdon on 13 October 2009.

Hooked Podcast subscribe in iTunesHooked episode 18 is all about injecting injuries and infections, it has to be said before you listen to this show that Allison and I are unusual people who find weeping wounds really fascinating. We cover most of the major injecting health issues.

The most important thing for people to remember if that if you have an injecting injury or you think you may have an infection then you need to get it checked out by a medical professional. If it looks wrong, and it feels wrong, then the chances are there is something wrong.

You can either download the episode directly or better still you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes which will automatically get each new episode as it comes out.

Via iTunesIf you're not someone who has listened to podcasts before, or if you have never even heard of them then we have an introductory article that explains all here.

Shownotes

The most important thing to remember is that if something doesn't look right, or doesn't feel right you should get it checked out by a medial professional.

This was becoming a huge set of show notes, so I decided that for most of the health concerns mentioned in the show we'd put up the wikipedia pages for them:

Endocarditis, necrotizing fasciitis, DVT, cellulitis, abscess, septacemia, tetanus, phlebitis, venous ulcers, and last but not least priapism.

There is also Avril Taylors report on the behaviours of injecting drug users in Scotland.
