Crack Pipe Workshop
Not all work in needle exchanges is about the injecting issues. A future article will discuss the advantages of non-problematic talk. Today though is going to be the release of Injecting Advice.com’s first free workshop pack.
As you can tell from the title to this article, this workshop will be concentrating on Crack Cocaine and safer pipe use, and of course includes all the information needed to run a successful harm reduction workshop with clients and/or staff.
Most of the services I’ve worked in have run some kind of workshops or groups for clients, all with varying levels of success. Sometimes its because of bad planning on the part of the service, like having workshops in the morning. Sometimes its because workshops have been badly thought out by overworked staff who manager has just told them to get it done and not given any guidance or time.
This pack will help run a Safer Piping workshop for crack users and has been written in a way that even some inexperienced workers will be able to pick it up and know everything needed to get a great discussion going clients.
The pack includes:
- Outline of the scope of the workshop
- List of required equipment
- Details of how to make 5 items of smoking kit
- Explanatory photos
- Associated harm reduction advice
- Further group discussion topics
- Advice on running the workshop
- Information on recycling residue
- Legal issues for the workshop
- Ready made feedback form
Hopefully you’ll find it useful
