Elizabeth Pisani

Written by Nigel Brunsdon on 07 April 2010.

Elizabeth PisaniAs long time readers of this blog already know I’m a big fan of the TED conferences, mainly because I love watching people who are so passionate about their subject as the TEDsters are.

TED unfortunately has very few talks relating to drugs and drug work, but this week a new one appeared, and it’s a great one that covers HIV, drugs, sex and politics.

Elizabeth Pisani

Elizabeth is an epidemiologist whose main area of interest is HIV. She’s worked all over the world both in her current role but also previously as a foreign correspondent for Reuters. Her TED talk is entitled “Sex, drugs and HIV - let's get rational” and is a wonderfully and timely talk that asks for a greater focus on science/evidence based policy. Something all the political parties would do well to take note of.

The wisdom of whoresElizabeth also has an amazing personal blog with a strong focus on HIV that I’m defiantly adding to my weekly reading list. The blog shares its name with her book The Wisdom of Whores.
